Galactica Quorum #40 – “The Ties That Bind”

We felt “The Ties That Bind” was a landmark episode, excellent in execution and full of events that will shape the remaining season.  We discuss Tory’s transformation into a villainess, the Cylon civil war, and try to ignore the smell on the Demetrius.

  1. Hi Guys,

Starbuck painting is supposed to be the triple star system she’s looking for but I assumed that the streak was a damaged viper but now I have to play the frame-by-frame game.

The closest star to us outside the sun, alpha centauri, is actually part of a binary system with Alpha Centauri A & B. But I just learned that a third star, a red dwarf called Proxima Centauri, may be in orbit around the other two. I don’t know if this counts as a trinary system. But I understand it’s unlikely for Alpha Centauri A & B to have a gas giant around them. Polaris, the north star, is also a trinary system.

I also found the following thread in another forum discussing astronomical info in the show.

  2. If I have a crush on her, she’s a cylon.

    just realized.

I had a small crush on boomber.
Have always had a thing for Lucy Lawless.
And when I first saw Tori on the show, she took my breath away. It really hurt to see her take down Cali, it was like watching my girlfriend kill my sister.

My only Galacticrush left is Dualla. At least if she’s a cylon I’ll get to see her in something other than that oversized jumpsuit.

  3. Ok, see what you mean about the painting comet thing looking like the ship of light, Thanks for pointing that out. I don’t think that’s random. Also I hadn’t considered that the two bright spots could be moons of jupiter. I thought it was a gas Giant with a close star behind it and two other stars making up the trinary system BUT the other two bright spots could easily be moons.
